About this Bachelor's Degree
Educated as both artist and communicator, a graphic designer must develop a high level of proficiency in traditional artistic skills and advanced digital skills to transform artistic decisions into effective digital graphics for sophisticated audiences.
The largest program in the Department of Art and Design, graphic design focuses on coursework in visual literacy; the development of conceptual, aesthetic and visualization skills; and creative problem-solving.
The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Art and Design is a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Learning Outcomes/Objectives
- Students establish an awareness of professional practices in the visual arts as artists.
- Students demonstrate the capability of thinking critically and creatively, integrating knowledge and ways of knowing, making reflective judgments, and identifying significant ideas and their underlying assumptions.
