Founders' Day

March 30, 1910, is the institution’s official birthday, and in 1955, the Alumni Association designated March 30, as MSC Day (for Mississippi Southern College). The day was to be observed wherever former students resided, and its purpose was “to build up a little more custom and tradition concerning the college.”
The day, since renamed Founders’ Day, has been observed in some fashion ever since, and now boasts an afternoon ceremony including the Student Government Association Inauguration and Awards Day.
In honor of Southern Miss’ Centennial Celebration, the 2010 Founders’ Day celebration featured the dedication of the Centennial Gateway, a spring convocation ceremony and a large community-style picnic.
