Apply early to Southern Miss

We strongly encourage your student to apply for admission during fall semester of senior year. If your student is admitted early to Southern Miss, it’s more likely that your student will also meet the deadlines for scholarship consideration, priority financial aid awarding and campus housing assignment.

Send ACT or SAT scores to Southern Miss

 

Submission of standardized test scores is required for admission and scholarship consideration. Want to make sure that we only see your student’s highest test score? Don’t worry about it! 

The Office of Admissions will always consider the highest ACT or SAT score earned for admission purposes. Similarly, the highest standardized test score earned through the December ACT and January SAT will always be used for scholarship consideration purposes.

So each time your student takes the ACT or SAT, make sure those scores get sent to Southern Miss! 

Schedule a visit to Southern Miss

 

A campus visit is an essential step in your student’s college search.  In fact, many high schools allow seniors to take “college days” to visit campuses.  Be sure you include Southern Miss!  You can meet with an admissions counselor, go on a guided tour of campus, and meet with faculty in your student’s area of academic interest.

Deadlines will around earlier than you think!  Make sure your student is aware of these important deadlines.

  • Feb. 1: Consideration deadline for all Admissions-based freshman scholarships
  • Feb. 1: Application deadline for Honors College admission consideration
  • Feb. 1: Priority application deadline for campus housing
  • March 15: Priority application deadline for financial aid
