July 16-20 Laboratory
Session on the USM campus, ANT439/539 (3 credit hours)
The field school will provide instruction
and experience in the principles of archaeological excavation, recording,
and mapping in the context of an ongoing research project at one of the premier
late prehistoric Mississippian sites in the South. Winterville is among the
largest mound centers in the Lower Mississippi Valley, dating to A.D. 1200-1500.
