The USM Department of Anthropology and Sociology offers a master's (MA) in anthropology, undergraduate majors in anthropology or sociology (BA), and undergraduate minors in anthropology and sociology.

As the societies of the world become increasingly interdependent and as our own society continues to confront the problems of pluralism and rapid social change, success in many fields (including international development, business, government and education) will depend on the individual's understanding of, and ability to adapt to, varied aspects of human diversity. The programs in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology equip the student with the tools necessary for such an understanding.
