Campus Life

1. Meeting with a Professor (USM 29)

Schedule a meeting with one of your professors during office hours and ask him/her several questions from your text or from those we discussed in class. Then complete the writing assignment as described on p. 29). Be sure to send a thank you note or email.

2. Campus Treasure Hunt (USM 39-40)

In groups of 3-4, complete the campus treasure hunt assignment in your text.

3. Participation in Campus Activities (USM 41)

You must participate in 5 official campus activities and submit a one paragraph description of the activity. Try to participate in several different types of activities.

4. Participation in Off-Campus Activities (USM 41)

You must participate in 3 off-campus activities, including sporting events, cultural events, or entertainment events. You must submit a one paragraph description of the activity. Try to participate in different types of activities.

1. Library

Complete the UNV 101 Library Pretest in class, the UNV 101 Library Project on your own, and the UNV Library Post-test in class. The pretest and post-test are on pp. USM 31-38.

2. Technology

Email me from the email account you use regularly. Make sure you tell me what section you are in.

3. Academic Policies and Procedures

Complete the Academic Policies and Procedures Project (USM 19-22)

4. College Success Travel Agency Trip Planner

5. Calculating a Grade Point Average (USM 23-25)

6. Advisement and Registration (USM 26)

7. Long Term Academic Planner (USM 27-28)

8. Complete the online plagiarism tutorial. Follow the link on the course website. You must send me your results.

Life skills

1. Money management

Prepare your monthly budget showing each category of income and expenses.

2. Time Management

For one week, keep a log of what you do each day and when you do it. Then, in three or paragraphs, explain some ways that you can improve your time management and some steps you can take to accomplish those improvements.

Journal

Each student must complete the assignment as stated on USM 45. These journal entries must be submitted by 5:00 pm each Tuesday. Also, students must turn in the journal assignment at the end of each chapter each Tuesday. Remember, these journals will be treated with complete confidentiality. However, you may black out sections you are not comfortable sharing with me.
