About Us

The Southern Miss Business Assistance Center operates solely under the auspices of the University of Southern Mississippi’s Trent Lott National Center of Excellence for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship.

The Southern Miss BAC began originally as a Mississippi Development Authority grant-funded, post-Katrina assistance center to help small businesses with disaster loan and GO Zone information. When its initial disaster-recovery phase ended, the BAC changed course, moving into new entrepreneurial development initiatives such as the Main Street Business Incubator, assisting rural communities with their entrepreneurial climate, and developing its online incubator.

The BAC is open Monday thru Friday, with walk-ins welcome from 8 a.m. to noon.
