What is The Pride of Mississippi?

The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band is by far the most visible group on campus.  The Pride performs at all home football games, numerous away games, high school marching band contests, parades, and festivals during the Fall semester.

Since its founding in 1920, the 20-piece brass ensemble has evolved into a boastful number of 300.  Having performed for such events as the F.D.R. inaugural parade in the 1930s, the Senior Bowl Classics and professional and collegiate bowl games, The Pride has enjoyed more television and national audience exposure than any other band in the South.  Additionally, The Pride has toured throughout the United States and to England and Ireland.

The Pride of Mississippi is open to all students enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi.  The Pride has celebrated many years of tradition and success.  Though many things have changed since its beginning, The Pride has remained steadfast in its quest for musical excellence.
