Friday morning, and again early today, I met at length with our program Chairs and Directors to discuss the requirement, communicated late last week, for each college to provide a prioritized list of up to $2 million in permanent cuts to "programs" or other parts of our regular college budget to be shared with the APG. (You can see more about APG and its membership, charge, and recent discussions at the APG website.)
The bottom line for all of us appears to be that we do not believe cuts to our basic academic programs makes good sense in either the short or long run.
