I met this morning with David Echevarria, our director of University Forum, and Natalie Cook, our graduate assistant. Forum is a one-hour class that all of our freshmen (and some sophomores) take every semester. Students attend ten events during the semester, ranging from concerts to shows to lectures. In recent years off-campus speakers have included Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., celebrity chef Cat Cora, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Bragg.
David, an assistant professor of psychology, has directed University Forum for us all year. He and Natalie are far along in planning the spring program. In his year with us David has brought some high-energy speakers to campus, and next semester is looking just as exciting. Natalie, who works in our office here in the Honors College, helps with logistics, class grading, and the like.
