I had a great lunch today with three terrific freshmen, Zachary Knight of Gulfport, Rachel Griffin of Mobile, Ala., and Marie John of Collinsville. I'm beginning regular lunches with students -- at least once a month, but perhaps more -- to keep better in touch with student issues. Over burgers at Mugshots, the three had an array of suggestions for better connecting with Honors College students. I left the meeting with a to-do list of items to consider, including getting some more Honors College tee shirts printed and arranging for an after-hours social at the dorms.
Zachary (marketing), Rachel (elementary ed), and Marie (history) brought a wide variety of perspectives to the lunch. I'll take a several sophomores out here in a couple of weeks.
