We had a fantastic turnout last night for a book signing by the former Honors College dean, Dr. Maureen Ryan, at Main Street Books in downtown Hattiesburg. Ryan, who was dean from 1991 to 2002, just published The Other Side of Grief: The Home Front and the Aftermath in Narratives of the Vietnam War with the University of Massachusetts Press. Dr. Ryan, who is a professor of English, gave a brief reading (enough to lure me into reading the book very soon!) and signed books for an hour and a half. It was a terrific time.
