My philosophy of education is pretty simple:
- Know your students.
- Connect them to bigger things.
- Set a good example.
This year's Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Business certainly embodies that philosophy. Bruce Aust, a 1986 economics graduate, is now Executive Vice President of the Corporate Client Group of the NASDAQ Stock Market. He came home to Mississippi last week and spoke with promising business students. In so doing, he connected them to bigger things. As a successful alumnus, Bruce has set a good example for Southern Miss students who reach high and work hard.
