When I got home from work yesterday, my husband inquired about my day. "What was the best part of it?" he asked. It took me a while to answer -- mainly because it had been a really good day. I had lunch with a famous chef (Cat Cora, a Southern Miss alumna of Iron Chef fame) and ate delicious food prepared by the Queen of the Southern Miss kitchens (Kim Busche.) I had a couple of particularly good visits with folks who care about the university, and ended my day with a meeting with Partners for the Arts.
A bright spot came with an early morning phone call from a very busy and important gentleman who had attended Saturday's campus dialogue. The event had set him to thinking and he called with some great ideas for moving us forward -- ideas we can really use. Southern Miss has a lot of friends and they are thinking and acting on our behalf all the time. For that, I am very grateful.
Today I'm heading for the coast. Will work at my student services center office and speak to the Edgewater Rotary Club at noon.
