In the administration building, we sometimes say we spend our days "putting out fires," but we usually don't mean that literally. Yesterday, the true firefighting ability of Associate Provost Bill Powell was put to the test. He was teaching a class in the Liberal Arts Building when a lightbulb exploded and flames were shooting from the socket. I'm told that Dr. Powell calmly smothered the flames with a fire extinguisher and proceeded to assist in the evacuation of the building.
A cool head in a crisis. Sounds like leadership in action. Thanks, Bill.
