Yesterday, I dutifully reported for my annual physical examination at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. It was my first time at the Mayo, and my immediate impression was that the facility felt more like a spa than a medical clinic. (That impression was short-lived once the poking and prodding began.) I noticed also how many elderly people were around and was disappointed to learn many of them were around my age or younger.
At the end of a long day of treadmills, scopes and probes, I was declared fit for executive duty for another year. The experience was suitably humbling.
