I haven't commented in this blog on the incredible $6,000,000 gift we received a couple of weeks ago. The identity of the donor will not be disclosed so we cannot publicly thank him or her for such amazing generosity. We can, however, show our thanks by putting the gift to good use.
The conditions of the gift were clear. Five million dollars are to be spent on scholarships, with preferences given to women and minority candidates. (With a 60% female and 30% minority enrollment, that won't be hard to do.) The remaining million will be applied toward furthering our strategic initiatives to make this great university even greater.
