Alumni Association Introduces Special Centennial Membership Rate

As enthusiasm for the celebration of The University of Southern Mississippi Centennial builds, the Southern Miss Alumni Association is offering a special Centennial membership rate of $20.10.

For a limited time, alumni can activate an annual membership in the organization for just $20.10. This introductory rate is designed to allow new Association members to enjoy the benefits and services of the organization at a rate more than 40 percent off the regular annual membership rate.

In 2008, the Southern Miss Alumni Association launched an effort to increase membership in the organization to more than 20,000 members through the "20,000 in 2010 Membership Campaign." This initiative attempts to increase the number of active Alumni Association members by the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the university's founding on March 30, 1910, and offers alumni the opportunity to reconnect with the university through Alumni Association publications such as the 64-page quarterly alumni magazine, The Talon.

"Membership in the Alumni Association is the most cost-effective and easiest way for alumni who are not currently engaged in the university to become involved," said Bob Pierce, the association's executive director. "It is our hope that this Centennial membership rate of $20.10 will motivate alumni who are not currently active in our organization to join and take advantage of the benefits of membership in the Association."

Pierce says membership in the association helps to support the university in a number of ways, including financial support of arts and athletics programs, and scholarships for children and grandchildren of alumni.
