2008 R & L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Southern Miss vs. Troy
The University of Southern Mississippi invites you to make Golden Eagles football part of your holiday plans Dec. 21 when Southern Miss takes on the Troy University Trojans in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. at the Louisiana Superdome.
The game will mark the Golden Eagles’ 13th postseason appearance in the last 20 years and 19th all-time. Southern Miss rallied to win their last four games of the 2008 campaign to become bowl eligible, and will vie for their 15th-straight winning season when they face the Sunbelt Conference champion Trojans. The game will be the first meeting on the gridiron between the two schools in more than 30 years.
The Golden Eagles are 2-0 in the New Orleans Bowl, with wins over North Texas (31-10) in 2004 and Arkansas State (31-19) in 2005, when the game was played in Lafayette, La., due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. This year’s contest will be televised on ESPN2 and broadcast on the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network.
Tickets are $40 for sidelines and $20 for students, and can be purchased through the Pat Ferlise Athletic Ticket Office on West 4th Street from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday; by phone at 1-800-844-TICK (8425); or online at southernmisstickets.com.
