With over 30+ years of experience in the Hospitality Industry, Thompson is a seasoned hotel executive. He is a C.H.A. (Certified Hotel Administrator) with the American Hotel & Lodging Association and T.M.P. (Tourism Marketing Professional) certified through the Southeast Tourism Society. For the past eighteen years, Thompson has been employed with Wyndham Worldwide, Inc. During his tenure, he has worked in areas of: field marketing, regional marketing and quality assurance. Currently, he is Regional Marketing Director for the states of AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, VA, and WV.
Prior to joining Wyndham, Thompson worked at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the Beverly Pavilion in Beverly Hills, CA, the Le Parc in Los Angeles, and Gulf Hills Resort and Country Club in Ocean Springs, MS. He also served as Cruise Director for Europa Cruise Line, operating out of Biloxi in the late 1980’s.
Thompson teaches TM 368 - Hotel Operations Management along with TM 442 - Strategic Sales Leadership.
Additionally, Thompson is a PhD student with the Human Capital Development program at Southern Miss and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, as well as Gold Key International Honour Society. In 2009, he completed his M.B.A. - Hospitality & Tourism from the University of Guelph, located outside of Toronto, Canada and he received his undergraduate degree from The University of Southern Mississippi, in 1982.
