He was presented the Louis K. Brandt Publication Award (1984, 1989, 2000), the Faculty Research Award (1988, 1998), the Journal of Risk and Insurance Award for Outstanding Communication/Notes (1985), the best article in the Australasian Journal of Regional Studies (199), the best article in the Journal of Insurance Issues (2001), and the best article in the Southeastern Economic Association meetings in 2003. He was elected as a Research Fellow by the Academy of Economics and Finance in 2002.
