Dr. Laatsch came to the University of Southern Mississippi in 2008, having previously taught at Bowling Green State University, Central Washington University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  At USM, he has taught investments, financial services classes, and even an occasional real estate course.  His recent research efforts address retirement and the future of Social Security, the effectiveness of the TARP program, and the responses of Treasury securities to hyperinflation.  Dr. Laatsch has published numerous articles in journal such as The Journal of Futures Markets, The Journal of Derivatives, and Financial Services Review.  He currently serves as the President of the Academy of Financial Services.  He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charter in 1985 and received the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation in 2001.
