Welcome to the USM School of Accountancy and Information Systems (SAIS). We are the proud home of over 20 faculty and staff and many successful alumni around the country. Our faculty have produced a diverse collection of scholarly publications in a variety of journals. This work represents relevant and timely research on auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting and information systems topics.
Our faculty and staff serve approximately 500 undergraduates who are majoring in one of three degree programs—Accounting, Management Information Systems, and Management Information Systems with a financial emphasis. We also have a number of students in our MPA (masters in public accountancy) degree program.
SAIS graduates are well prepared to meet the challenges of careers in either the accounting or MIS fields. The undergraduate Accounting program prepares students for positions in accounting in business and government and also for graduate study.
Our accounting students consistently perform above average on the CPA exam. The MIS program prepares students for career opportunities in computer training, computer sales and microcomputer systems design and applications.
The School of Accounting at USM holds separate accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which puts our program in a very small group of the best accounting programs in the country.
We enjoy an outstanding relationship with the public accounting community and a broad spectrum of firms that employ our graduates. Our professional advisory board enables us to better serve our constituents and keep our programs relevant to our rapidly changing profession.
