Lisa Lowery currently serves as the academic advisor in the College of Business, where she advises all General Business, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, and Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management majors.
Lisa is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, where she holds a bachelor’s degree in Family Relations and a master’s degree in Child and Family Studies.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Lisa served as the Luckyday Citizenship Graduate Assistant while working on her master’s degree. Her duties included working closely with Luckyday scholars to help connect them with resources on and off campus, advising students, serving as a teaching assistant, and providing and participating in community service opportunities.
Upon completion of her master’s degree, Lisa went to work for The Institute for Disability Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi on a grant called Families First. While at IDS, Lisa provided education classes to the public in the areas of character building, healthy relationships, and parenting in Forrest, Lamar, and Harrison counties. She was able to work with diverse populations helping participates complete classes to better themselves. In addition, Lisa worked closely with community agencies to help people find and use the resources available to them.
Lisa also worked for Hattiesburg Clinic after the grant ended at IDS. At Hattiesburg Clinic, Lisa was responsible for conducting training and assisting new employees on the software system called EPIC.
Lisa’s academic interests include student success, retention, advisement and connecting students to available resources.
Lisa is married to Patrick Lowery where they live in the Oak Grove community. Supporting USM is one of their favorite things to do.
