Undergraduate Academic Services
ADVISING FOR SUMMER AND FALL 2014 BEGAN FEBRUARY 17. We are taking walk-in's only at this time.
The Undergraduate Academic Services Office functions as a "mini admissions and registrar's" office for prospective business students and current business majors. Friendly office personnel provide academic counseling to students prior to admission and throughout the duration of their academic career in the College of Business at Southern Miss.
Students can meet with their academic adviser every semester to monitor progress toward their degree goals. The academic advisers also give referrals for social, financial, and career counseling needs.

Your adviser is determined by your degree program:
Gennifer Hicks: Fashion merchandising, human resource management, supply chain management, and business management majors
Lisa Lowery: General Business, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, and Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management majors
J. Christian Sweatt: Accounting & International Business
Michelle Templeton: Marketing, Healthcare Marketing, Finance, Real Estate, and Personal Financial Planning
Each adviser has one walk-in day each week, on which day students are not required to make an appointment. During an adviser's walk-in day, any student from any major (even if the adviser is not assigned to that student) can see that adviser. All of our advsiers will observe only walk-in days toward the end of the semeseter, and will not accept appointments until the new semester has started.
- MONDAY: Michelle Templeton
- TUESDAY: Lisa Lowery
- WEDNESDAY: J. Christian Sweatt
- FRIDAY: Gennifer Hicks
Advising appointments with an adviser can be made by coming to our office in Joseph Greene Hall, room 110, and making an appointment with Cheryl Wenzler, our administrative assistant.
No appointments are needed during each adviser's walk-in day, or at the end of the semester, during which all advisers take only walk-in's.
All of our advisers see students (walk-in's, and appointments) from 8:40am until 3:40pm, Monday-Friday.
Call the appropriate office for more information.
