"Freedom Riders" is the story of a diverse group of Civil Rights activitists who in 1961 took buses into the Jim Crow South to protest the policy of racial segregation. Riders risked being jailed, beaten or killed as white local and state authoriities ignored or even encouraged violent attacks against them. This documentary is part of a series called "Created Equal" that will begin in Spring 2014 and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
