This year the exhibition and opening reception will be held in the Cook Library Learning Commons Gallery.
The Annual Student Show is a juried exhibition of works produced by students in the Department of Art and Design at Southern Miss that takes place every spring. This greatly anticipated annual event gives art students the opportunity to exhibit their creative achievements in visual arts produced over the past year, and compete for awards in various categories. The student show features work from studio courses in art foundations, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and graphic design.
The Department of Art and Design at Southern Miss has held this annual exhibition showcasing the talents and creative work of its students for more than 40 years. The show has long been an integral and much-anticipated component of the visual arts curriculum.
This year, due to tornado damage to the Fine Arts Building and the Museum of Art, the student show is being held in the Cook Library Commons Gallery.
Jurors for this years student show are JJ Foley, from Pass Christian and Hillary Lovinggood and Blayne Ward, of Hattiesburg.
Everyone is invited to attend the opening reception and awards ceremony, Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The awards will be announced at 6:00 p.m.
