As part of the Centennial Celebration, Southern Miss is focusing efforts to build an endowment pool of unrestricted scholarship funds for University use. Used to recruit, support and retain the best and brightest students, these funds will allow us to ensure the future lifeblood of the institution by increasing the availability of unrestricted, endowed scholarship support.

The Need
*       71% of Southern Miss students receive financial aid.
*       Only 10% of students receiving financial aid actually receive scholarship support
*       The average Southern Miss student graduates with $17,000 in student aid debt

Although the Centennial Scholarship Endowment alone will not change this future for everyone, it will make an impact on reducing the debt load for many deserving students and will provide Southern Miss with the resources needed to effectively compete for the best and brightest students.

Involvement
The effort to build and grow a Centennial Scholarship Endowment is a project that does not discriminate based on giving  capacity, but rather provides an opportunity for broad participation and wide investment in the future of The University of Southern Mississippi by addressing a specific priority need area of the institution through the establishment and growth of an unrestricted, endowed scholarship fund.

Beginning January 1, 2010, donors to the Centennial Scholarship Endowment will be recognized on this Web site at the  following levels (including gifts and pledges):

Below $100

$100-$499

$500-$1,909

$1,910-$2,010

$2,011-$4,999

$5,000-$9,999

$10,000-$24,999

$25,000-$49,999

$50,000-$99,999

$100,000+

The list will accrue on a rolling basis throughout the life of the site. Donors of gifts $10,000 and greater will be appropriately recognized at a Centennial location on campus to be determined at a later date with the leadership of The University of Southern Mississippi Centennial Committee.
