SMART

SMART FORM CONSIST OF 4 PARTS:

HISTORY: The history of the SMART form lists all courses students have taken during the course of their academic tenure. This area list transfer as well as courses that are taken here at USM.

UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS: This information lists the total number of hours for the degree program and other university requirements needed to satisfy the degree program.

GENERAL CORE REQUIREMENTS: Consists of courses such as, English, Math, Science, etc. These courses are chosen by the University and are common across degree programs.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS: These requirements are chosen by the department of the major.

Students have access to their SMART form at all times.

CHANGE OF MAJOR:

Student interested in changing their major to degree programs within the College of Education and Psychology must see Margie Newsome or Sheri Dann, OMH 108A and 108B.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

To have a course substituted the student must see his/her advisor.

GRADUATION INFORMATION and APPLICATION FOR DEGREE PROCESS

Applications for Degrees are taken 1 semester prior to graduation.

  • Spring Graduation - student would file his/her application for degree during the fall term.
  • Summer Graduation - student would file his/her application for degree during the spring term. (There is no graduation ceremony for the Summer term, students can chose to walk in the spring or fall ceremony).
  • Fall Graduation - student would file his/her application for degree during the summer term.

The application for degree appointment dates and times are posted on the door in Owings-McQuagge Hall room 108A each semester.
