The Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Family Studies prepares students to work with children and their families in educational, institutional, and human service settings. Students are given the opportunity to choose one of four emphasis areas within this major – child development career, child development licensure track, child life, and/or family relations. In addition to the general education and college core, course work in Child and Family Studies has a family systems perspective and focuses on developmental observations.  The Child and Family Studies program is part of the College of Education and Psychology.

Courses leading to a four-year degree in Child and Family Studies are now available on the Gulf Park campus. For an opportunity to meet with a faculty advisor at Gulf Park, please call the Department of Child and Family Studies (601-266-4679) or email the Department Chair (c.west@usm.edu.)
