PAYMENT FOR SERVICES:

Payment for services is determined based on a sliding fee scale, dependent on family income and family size.  Fees range from $5.00 to $50.00 per session, payable by cash or check at the end of each session.  Please talk with your therapist if your fee needs to be adjusted.  No one will be refused services due to financial constraints.

ABOUT OUR THERAPISTS:

Our therapists are advanced graduate students who are specializing in marital and family therapy.  They are mature individuals with diverse life and professional experience. Therapists are supervised by senior staff who are all clinical members and approved supervisors of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).  Therapists and supervisors are committed to high standards of professional competence and integrity.  Appointments with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists are often available upon request.

ABOUT OUR CENTER:

The University Clinic for Family Therapy is a research and clinical site for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at the University of Southern Mississippi.  Our graduate program is the only publicly funded Marriage and Family Therapy program in Mississippi that is accredited by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.   As part of our training procedure, our therapists often operate using a team approach.  Teams may consist of one or two therapist interns, a faculty supervisor and selected advanced family therapy trainees.  In order to help you most effectively and efficiently the team may observe sessions from behind our one-way mirrors and videotape therapy sessions in order to give feedback, support and collaboration to you and your therapist.    Tapes are kept under lock and key and are erased at the end of therapy.  Most clients have found this service to be a helpful and low cost way of solving problems.

RISKS AND BENEFITS OF THERAPY:

While most clients report positive results as they make changes in their lives, some clients experience interruptions in normal patterns, feelings, and relationships.  These changes may add up to positive changes in the long run, but meanwhile, individuals, couples and families may feel discomfort and additional stress.

The University Clinic for Family Therapy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran’s status, or handicap in the delivery of services.
