Keithco Petroleum (Keith's Superstores) is happy to announced a charity concert starring Greg and Janna Long of the Christian music group Avalon. All proceeds will be donated to the Beth Harrison Endowment Fund which will benefit The Children's Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi.
Beth Harrison was the 15 year old daughter, and only child of Kevin and Wanda Harrison of Heritage Vision Center and Cheaper Peepers in Hattiesburg, MS. On February 5, 2007, our community was devastated by the news that Beth Harrison had passed away suddenly due to a brain aneurysm.
Beth grew up doing commercials with her dad on local television and radio stations. She spent hours making and selling jewelry. Any money she made from this hobby was donated to The Children's Center. Beth truly cared for these children.
The first concert Beth ever went to was a Greg Long concert. The ironic twist to her story is that the last song she downloaded to her MP3 player was a song by Greg Long.
Keithco contacted Greg Long of the group Avalon by email telling him of Beth's love for their music. They explained in that email that Keith's Superstore wanted to host this charity concert and asked if there was any way possible for him to perform. A few days later, they received an email back not only to say that it would be an honor but that they would also donate 10% of their merchandise sales to The Children's Center for Communication and Development!
The Children's Center for Communication and Development is an early intervention program serving infants, toddlers and preschoolers with disabilities. As a clinical division of the USM Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, the center serves families and children from several states free of charge while providing clinical training for university students.
