The Department of Community Health Sciences offers school health courses required to acquire a health endorsement (143). Student interested in enrolling in this program must have a current State of Mississippi teaching license or be pursuing a teaching license. The 15 hours of CHS courses that are required are offered during the summer session. CHS 415, CHS 430 and CHS 422 are online courses. CHS 408 is a one week intersession course, generally taught in June. To complete the endoursement requirements, the Mississippi State Department of Education also requires a first-aid certification which can be obtained in a college-level course in first-aid or a first-aid certificate program such as Red Cross.
