• The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) was founded in 1910.
• USM is a comprehensive doctoral and research-driven university. USM's external research funding nears $100 million per year.
• USM is a dual campus, with campuses in Hattiesburg and on the Coast, as well six teaching and research sites.
• USM offers more than 180 degree programs in five degree-granting colleges.
• There are over 14,000 undergraduates and over 3,000 graduate students at USM.
• USM's student body is diverse, with all 50 states and over 70 foreign countries represented among the student population.
• There are approximately 650 faculty at USM.
