Preparing for the Future

Today’s students must prepare for an evolving workplace. Employers in a broad spectrum of industries seek out college graduates who have developed the necessary skills through their course study to adapt and lead in today’s global society. National surveys show that companies and/or organizations are seeking out graduates with the right skills and talent, rather than the right major, who can easily learn the specifics of an industry.

The College of Arts and Letters at Southern Miss offers its students options to develop the right skills for success. Through interactive classes, independent research projects, performances and international travel, our students develop skills that serve them well whether they enter graduate school or the job market.

  • THINK about the prospect of a major in the arts, humanities, or social sciences.
  • CREATE the college experience you want through interactions with talented and caring faculty, engaged fellow students and the larger community who supports our efforts.
  • GROW personally, academically, and professionally as you shape your future.
