College of Arts and Letters
As a nationally recognized teaching and research university, Southern Miss offers students a comprehensive array of programs. The College of Arts and Letters plays a critical role in the university. Within the college on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses are 15 departments and schools, encompassing a variety of important disciplines in the arts, humanities, social sciences, human environmental sciences, international education and communication--including both Aerospace Studies (Air Force ROTC) and Military Science (Army ROTC).
Our college also houses the Division of Undergraduate Studies, a vital part of our university's desire to assist new students in making the most of their academic career. We have recently included International Studies to our academically diverse college. The program offers a variety of summer, semester, and year-long credit abroad programs designed to furnish students with opportunities for personal and academic enrichment.
We are committed to providing challenging, rewarding, and affordable programs to students in preparation for life in an interdependent global environment. Our faculty of artist-teachers, educators, and scholars has received recognition at the highest national and international levels. Majors in any of the Arts and Letters disciplines at Southern Miss have the opportunity to work closely with some of the most accomplished educators and professionals in their selected fields.
