The School of Music, a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, provides degree requirement in accordance with the published regulations of this association. The four undergraduate degrees available to students in the School of Music are the bachelor of arts, the bachelor of music, the bachelor of music education and the bachelor of science in Entertainment Industry.
Emphasis areas in music are jazz studies, music history and literature, performance (percussion, piano, strings, guitar, voice, and wind instruments) and composition. Music education emphasis areas are instrumental and choral (with plans for singers, keyboardists, guitarists, and elementary school teachers). Entertainment Industry offers emphases in management and production.
Additionally, the school offers four degrees at the graduate level: a master’s degree in music, a master’s in music education, a Ph.D. in music education and a doctorate in musical arts. Emphasis areas in the master of music degree are performance, conducting, music history and literature, theory and composition, and woodwind performance and pedagogy. Emphasis areas for the D.M.A. include performance, conducting and composition.
