Development
Outreach
Arts and Letters at Southern Miss offer more than 350 cultural and academic events per year. From internationally acclaimed performances by artists such as Placido Domingo and Sir James Galway to exceptional productions and intriguing exhibitions by our own students, to lectures and discussions by leading scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Arts and Letters continually reaches out to its community.
Our many activities affirm the value of our students’ work on a broader scale. Students graduate and go on to become successful professional artists, scholars, practitioners, and teachers in some of the best organizations and schools in the nation.
Collaboration
The Arts and Letters' collaborative emphasis creates a lively environment: undergraduates, graduates, and professors build relationships; perform research together; and create initiatives to serve the larger community. Financial support from traditional sources, such as state appropriations and tuition, has failed to keep pace with the rising cost of providing quality education in today’s competitive market. Our faculty and staff work diligently to use our resources efficiently and to seek funding from private charitable foundations, government grants, and similar sources. Yet our need is still great, and we rely on the support of committed alumni and friends of the college.

- Create a living legacy by designating a College of Arts and Letters endowment through a pledge of $10,000 or more over the next five years or through Planned Giving
