About the Council of Chairs

The Council of Chairs provides a forum in which chairs and directors of academic units discuss issues of interest and relevance to departments and schools and formulate policy recommendations for consideration by the Deans, the Provost, and the President. The membership of the Council consists of representatives from full-time chairs and directors of designated academic units with full-time faculty. Their election is determined by each college, with no unit within the college electing more than one representative. The number of representatives includes three from each academic college and one from the University Libraries. Representatives serve staggered terms and may be reelected.
