Our Graduate Program
Students pursue graduate degrees in order to enhance their educations and careers. The department offers the M.A./M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Communication with an emphasis in Communication Studies. Our graduate program features a supportive environment led by an experienced and accomplished faculty.
Graduates of our master’s program have taken jobs in business, government, and education. Recent graduates have taken jobs with such companies Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Hawthorn Pharmaceuticals, American Cancer Society, and the Mississippi Museum of Art. Students interested in careers in education have taken instructor positions at Mississippi State University, Pearl River Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Hinds Community College, and other such institutions.
Our doctoral graduates teach and conduct research at colleges and universities across the country. Institutions that have hired our former students include Carson-Newman College, University of New Orleans, Clemson University, Winona State University, Kennesaw State University, Jackson State University, Valdosta State University, Berry College, Sam Houston State University, University of Louisiana at Alexandria, Pikesville College, Xavier University, Louisiana College, Mississippi State University, State University of New York at Oneonta, Angelo State University, and other similar institutions. Some doctoral students have used their graduate educations to advance careers in business and educational institutions.
