The Computational Sciences Program is administered through the Dean's Office in the College of Science and Technology. The participating departments include Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, and the School of Computing. Emphasis areas include Computational Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, Computational Physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and Computational Science in the School of Computing .

Departments that house the emphasis areas determine the programs of study. Students will interact through a seminar series shared jointly by the participating departments, and all students will be required to complete a common core of techniques courses (COS701, COS702, and COS703) that introduce the students to foundational concepts in computational science.

There are a limited number of graduate assistantships available to qualified students offered by each department, and a small number graduate assistantships offered by the College of Science and Technology on a competitive basis.
