What benefits does the department bring to the university?
The School of Construction (SoC) graduates students into management positions in all sectors of the A/E/C industry with average starting salaries of around $49,000 (Alumni Surveys). These graduates mature into senior management positions that (in addition to personal capabilities) enable their firms to help support the SoC programs, sports and the foundation. Faculty in SoC are active in grant production and regularly team with faculty in other departments (e.g, Computer Science and Economic Development). Research is state-of-the-art; current research is setting the national and state standards in Dept. of Transportation use of Global Positioning Systems, virtual reality systems are being developed for use by the Army Corps of Engineers world-wide and closer to home for online multi-user collaborative education.
