Aaron Henry talks to reporters in Atlantic City, N.J., at the
Democratic National Convention after the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party
refused to accept the two seats at large offered by the Credentials Committee.
The Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party delegation consisted of 62 members
who asserted their right to all 62 seats in place of the illegally elected Regular
Democratic Party delegates. The Democratic leadership, including Lyndon Johnson
and Hubert Humphrey, offered a compromise of only two non-voting seats to the
MFDP delegation.
