Photo of Dr. Gilbert Mason, Sr., who was a founding member of the Biloxi NAACP, was the leader of the Gulf Coast wade-in to desegregate the sand beaches, and was the major petitioner in the lawsuit against the Biloxi Municipal School district to desegregate the public schools.
