There are many advantages to hiring a Southern Miss Eagle

  • Promote your company and employment opportunities to over 15,000 diverse students and Southern Miss Alumni
  • Schedule on-campus interviews, search for cooperative education or full-time & part-time job candidates through online Eagle Employment or post job vacancies directly on our website
  • Participate in our Fall and Spring Career Fair or Teacher Job Fair

Below are some suggestions to help you build a strong relationship with our office and achieve your recruiting goals at Southern Miss.

Recruit Online:
Utilize Eagle Employment, our online career and recruiting system.

Features of Eagle Employment include:

  • Post announcements for co-op and full-time positions
  • View resumes and cover letters from students and alumni looking for employment.
  • Select candidates and schedule on-campus interviews
  • Correspond directly with candidates by e-mail
  • Update your company profile that will be viewed by students and alumni.

On-Campus Interviews:
Schedule on-campus interviews through Eagle Employment. Choose to recruit students that are pre-selected or have an open schedule for a first-come, first-served basis. Guidelines for On-Campus Interviews can be found in the Recruiting Policies.

Faculty Connections:
Career Services is a centralized department, serving all five colleges at Southern Miss (Arts & Letters, Business, Education & Psychology, Health, and Science & Technology). Our staff can help you connect with faculty in related academic departments, schedule faculty luncheons, and organize classroom presentations. For the department liaisons, please click here.

Cooperative Education (Co-Op) Program:
The Co-Op Program matches employers with highly motivated students who fill valuable needs within an organization and students benefit by gaining practical work experience and making professional contacts in their career field of interest. All Co-op positions should offer responsibilities very similar to what students might experience in their first jobs after graduation. Our office requires all students interested in the Co-op Program to have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (Graduate Students must have a 3.0), a declared major, and an established file with our office. For additional information, refer to our Employer Co-Op Handbook.

Company Information Sessions:
The night before your on-campus interviews, we recommend you host an information session. This allows you to meet with students and alumni to tell them more about your company and career opportunities in a business casual setting. Our office can help arrange the location, refreshments, and audio/visual equipment.

Career Services Partner Program:
You’re invited to become a member of the Career Services Partner Program. Here at Southern Miss, we want to offer each employer the potential to increase recruitment from our immensely diverse and talented student body.  This program provides a unique opportunity to spotlight your organization while effectively maximizing your staffing initiatives. Your annual commitment will increase your campus visibility and entitles you to many benefits.
