Work-study Students

The work-study program is a federally funded program that provides universities with money to award students who qualify based on financial need. Students can apply for work-study through the Financial Aid Office. Jobs classified as work-study are only available to those students who have been awarded a work-study assignment. These jobs typically pay minimum wage.

Wage Jobs

Jobs classified as “wage” are available to any and all full time students. These jobs vary in salary, from minimum wage and up, and you are limited to 20 working hours per week. Jobs classified as “off campus” are available to all students, and are located off of the USM campus. Most students are looking for on campus jobs because of the convenience of location. However, the benefits of working off campus are a higher salary, and more working hours (you are not limited to 20 hours per week). There are a tremendous amount of employment opportunities in the community, everything from babysitting to clerical work and manual labor to food service.
