Heritage Vision Center Fundraiser

For ten years, Heritage Vision Center, located at 6096 US Hwy 98 Suite 1 (in front of Sam’s), has graciously partnered with The Children’s Center to assist us with funding for our Loan Library.  Mr. Kevin Harrison of Heritage Vision Center, an alumnus of Southern Miss and a Children’s Center board member, originated this idea as a way to give back to his alma mater and community, and to positively impact children’s lives.  Over the years, Mr. Harrison’s generosity has provided funding for several important purchases for the library, including early literacy materials, a computer, software, and adaptive components and accessories.

How does this sponsorship work?

*Every year during the month of July, Heritage Vision Center has its annual eyeglasses sale, benefit from which a percentage of each pair of prescription eyeglasses sold is donated to The Children’s Center.

*Specially labeled Tips Boxes are placed around the store, so that customers may donate   their tips to The Children’s Center. Our students’ artwork is displayed along with     information about The Children’s Center, enhancing community awareness of our services.

*In addition to monetary donations to The Children’s Center, Heritage Vision Center offers    students actively enrolled in The Children’s Center vision examinations from Dr. Ron     Mozingo, optometrist, and a pair of prescription eyeglasses, both at no direct charge to our   Center families.  If your enrolled child already has glasses and does not need a new pair,   Mr. Harrison offers free adjustment and/or minor repair.  Verification of active enrollment, in the form of a letter available from your child’s teacher, must be presented to the Heritage   Vision Center staff for the examination and glasses offer.

*Children’s Center students who have Medicaid will receive higher quality eyeglasses than those covered by Medicaid, and Heritage will file the Medicaid billing.

*”Curbside service” is available for students for whom going into the store poses considerable difficulties.

Please remember this invaluable partnership between Heritage Vision Center and The Children’s Center should the need for eyeglasses arise for you and/or your child, and help us spread the word to family and friends. This is a tremendous benefit that keeps on giving!
