Types of Admission

Regular Admission Status is granted to applicants who submit a satisfactory application package by the published deadline, have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above (calculated on a 4.0 scale) for the last two years of undergraduate study, and a grade point average of at least 3.0 on undergraduate courses in the field of proposed study.

Conditional Admission Status is granted to applicants who submit a satisfactory application package by the published deadline, but have a GPA of 2.5 (calculated on a 4.0 scale) for the last two years of undergraduate study.   Graduate students who are admitted to the graduate program on a conditional basis must earn a 3.0 GPA or better on the first 9 hours of graduate level coursework at or above the 500 level in order to remain in the program.

Regular Admission and Conditional Admission Status for specialist's programs requires a GPA of 3.25 and 3.0 respectively on previous graduate work. 

Applicants who have no graduate work and are applying to doctoral programs must meet the Regular Admission Status requirements.  Doctoral program applicants with a Master's degree must have a GPA of 3.5 on previous graduate course work for Regular Admission Status.  Conditional Admission Status will be granted to doctoral program applicants with a Master's degree and a GPA of 2.5 on the last 60 hours of study.  Graduate students who are admitted to the doctoral program on a conditional basis must earn a 3.5 or better on the first 9 hours of graduate level coursework at or above the 600 level.
