CISE Supplemental Endorsements

Undergraduate Supplemental Endorsements:

 

Supplemental Endorsement #221 (Mild/Moderate Disabilities K-12)

Those seeking supplemental endorsements will either have a primary licensure in elementary or secondary.  

 

Supplemental Endorsement #223 (Mild/Moderate Disabilities K-8)

This supplemental endorsement is available to those with elementary education licensure or K12 licensure areas such as Deaf Education, etc. 

 

The following courses would be required: 

SPE 400, 402, 430, 431, 331, 470, 401, 442 (22 hours total)

 

Please note that all candidates seeking supplemental endorsements in Mild/Moderate Disabilities (K-8) will have successfully completed the MDE mandated courses on classroom management (3 hours) and data analysis and assessment (3 hours) that are required of all initial licensure teacher education candidates within their initial licensure program of study (i.e., elementary education, etc.).

 

Supplemental Endorsement #224 (Mild/Moderate Disabilities 7-12)

This is available to those with secondary education licensure or K12 licensure areas such as Deaf Education, etc. 

 

The following courses would be required:

SPE 400, 402, 430, 442, 342, 401, 470, 431 (22 hours total)

 

*Please note that all candidates seeking supplemental endorsements in Mild/Moderate Disabilities (7-12) will have successfully completed the MDE mandated courses on classroom management (3 hours) and data analysis and assessment (3 hours) that are required of all initial licensure teacher education candidates within their initial licensure program of study (i.e., math education, etc.).

 

Graduate Licensure Areas:

 

Supplemental Endorsement #221 (Mild/Moderate Disabilities K-12)

This is available to those with elementary education licensure or K12 licensure areas such as Deaf Education, etc.

SPE 630, 640, 631, 709, 651, 652, and 634 OR 680 (21 hours total)

 

Please note that completion of this licensure sequence without completing the M.Ed. will result in an A license.  If the candidate does complete the M.Ed., we would recommend an AA license.

 

Supplemental Endorsement #224 (Mild/Moderate Disabilities 7-12)

This supplemental endorsement is available to those with secondary education licensure or K12 licensure areas such as Deaf Education, etc. 

 

The following courses would be required:

SPE 630, 640, 632, 709, 651, 652, and 634 OR 680 (21 hours total)

 

Please note that completion of this licensure sequence without completing the M.Ed. will result in an A license.  If the candidate does complete the M.Ed., we would recommend an AA license.

 

Supplemental Endorsement #222 (Severe Disabilities K-12)

This supplemental endorsement is available to those with a 221 teaching license (Mild/Moderate Disabilities K-12).

 

The following courses would be required:

            SPE 633, 655, 688, 641, 643, 645, 644 OR 680 (21 hours total)

 

This is only available to those who have a master’s degree in a related field or to those who complete the M.Ed. in Special Education with Emphasis in Severe Disabilities.  Thus, candidates would be eligible for an AA license.

 

 

 

Supplemental Endorsement #207 (Gifted Education)

The sequence in this area must remain the same. 

 

The following courses are required:

SPE 560, 661, 662, 663, 664 (15 hours total)

 

Please note that a master’s degree is not required for licensure in Gifted Education.  Candidates are eligible for an A license in this area.

 

Initial AA Licensure (Behavior Disorders)

The sequence in this area must remain the same. 

 

The following courses are required:

SPE 650, 651, 652, 654 OR 680 (12 hours total)

 

Please note that this licensure area is a master’s level license.  This license is available only to those either currently holding a master’s degree in a related field or to those who complete the M.Ed. in Special Education with Emphasis in Behavior Disorders.  Thus, candidates would be eligible for an AA license.
