Dr. Anne Sylvest earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University in 1985.  She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and serves as Co-Director of USM's Educational Field Experiences, overseeing practicum experiences and teacher candidacy for approximately 300 elementary and special education undergraduates each semester. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Sylvest taught educational methods courses at Texas A&M University and served as a curriculum coordinator and middle school principal for over 20 years.  She has also taught grades 3-8 in the USA and Germany. Her most current studies have focused on the development of effective and authentic field experiences.
